The project of Panama city Metro Line 1 runs along a railway track of 13,7km with 12 stations “en-route”, 7 underground and 5 above ground. Its route is mainly set in a North-South axis and connects the National Bus Station Terminal, in “Albrook”, to the Commercial Center “Los Andes” located in the north of Panama City´s Metropolitan Area. This route is embedded in a high demand corridor of public transport.
This route was chosen after analyzing various options of track diagrams so as to optimize for this first stage of Line 1, the quantity of works to be carried out with a view to reducing project costs and increase the certainty of compliance with the work´s completion date.
The chosen track diagram begins its route in the Transístmica Avenue to then continue alongside the Fernandez de Córdoba Avenue until it reaches the Avenue of Spain, and from there on till the beginning of the Avenue Justo Arosemena, from which it runs until it arrives to a nearby location of the 5th of May Square and extends its route up to the area of the Albrook Transport Terminal.
